Tour Details

The valley of stream Bloščica on the Bloke Plateau in Southern Slovenia is a perfect place for a relaxed nature walk. This is one of the slowest streams in Slovenia, but this is exactly what makes it so special. The stream is calmly meandering through the valley, giving the feeling that the time has slowed down. Meadows along the stream are full of life. In a company of our naturalist guide, you will observe dragonflies and butterflies, search for wild orchids and even miniature carnivorous plants.

From late spring to late summer, meadows are chaining colours, when different plants are in full bloom. Here you can find several species of orchids, in July also the rare white-coloured subspecies of the Spotted Orchid, Dactylorhiza maculata subsp. transsilvanica. In summer many meadows turn red as they are densely covered with great burnet (Sanguisorba officinalis) and also host large populations of a beautiful butterfly Large Scarce Blue (Phengaris (Maculinea) teleius). On our walk we will get to know several species of carnivorous plants, which have invented the most peculiar ways to trap insects.

This is the shortest tour we are offering. We walk a circular path, which is only 1,5 km long. As we walk slowly to explore nature and take photos, the whole walk takes about 2 hours. We walk on level terrain, so this walk is also suitable for families with smaller children. As we believe that children should be given the opportunity to experience nature, children up to age 14 when accompanied by at least one adult are joining our one-day tours free of charge.

If you would like to spend more time in the region, you can visit Museum of Bloke Skiing (open on appointment, contact: +386 31 326 158), Cave of Križna Jama or Castle Snežnik

This is a one-day group tour which is running every Wednesday and every Friday from 9th May to 31st August 2018 from 10 am till 12 am. Please note that you need to book your spot at the tour at least 24 hours before the start of the tour. You can do so through our online booking system or send us a message through an enquiry form.

If you wish to go on this tour outside of the fixed schedule, please send us a message through an enquiry form and we will check availability of our guides. Different prices apply for a private tour.

Price of this one-day group tour is 15 € for and adult. Children up to age 14 when accompanied by at least one adult can join free of charge.

If you would wish to join this tour outside of  the fixed schedule the base price is 20 € for one person, 40 € for two and 15 € extra for each additional adult participant (maximum is 12). Also in this case children up to age 14 can join the walk free of charge.

Easy. In the 2 hours, we will walk about 1,5 kilometre at an easy pace. We will follow unpaved roads and also smaller paths. The whole route has almost no difference in height. This tour is suitable for children, however, it is up to parents to judge if they have the ability to walk the distance (or they can be carried).
