If you’ve decided to spend holidays in Slovenia, nature is most likely one of the reasons.
Slovenia is known as a biodiversity hot spot of Europe. Landscapes and habitats change quickly and with that also plants and animals. Slovenia is one of the few countries in Europe where you can visit high mountains in the morning and dive in the sea in the evening. It is also sparsely populated meaning there is a lot or uninhabited areas with rich wildlife.
I feel privileged to live in Slovenia where nature has so much to offer. I love to share this with my guests as our nature walks are always exciting.
Of course, guiding in nature is very different from guiding in a museum. It is much more unpredictable. Nature is changing with the season, animals are mobile and might not always be visible. But I’ve selected the best areas for our nature walks where there is always something to see. Most often I take you to areas that are not described in any guide and you would not easily find yourself.
During our nature walks I tell some interesting stories and facts about the areas and species. We walk slowly, paying attention to landscapes, plants, and animals and listening to the sounds of nature.
Part of my ecotourism business is also offering a holiday home. The Dormouse House is not just an average holiday house. It is 230 years 230-year-old house, a historic home in which up to 5 people can stay. The house has its charm and it is beautifully situated in a small village just above Lake Cerknica. From there you can have many day trips. For some of them we provide free tips on our page Dormouse House. If you would like to visit nature with a specialised guide, contact me.
